Saint Rose of LimaSaint Rose of Lima was known for her piety and chastity. Though her family didn't agree with her desire to be a nun, eventually they relented. She spent most of her time in prayer, fasting in secret, performing penances that were often painful.
When she turned 20, she was permitted to join the Third Order of St. Dominic. She continued a life of extreme prayer, fasting and penance. On one occasion she burned her hands as a self-imposed act of penance. Saint Rose of Lima is the patron saint of embroiderers, gardeners, florists, Latin America and the Philippines. Her feast day is August 23. Find more information about St. Rose HERE |
