Saint Peter

Despite his denials in knowing Jesus, Saint Peter is the first Pope of the Catholic Church.  In the Gospel of Matthew 16:15-20 you can read about how Jesus told Peter he is the rock on which he [Jesus] will build his church.

Saint Peter is the patron saint of fishermen, net makers, and ship builders.

His feast day is June 29.
