Saint Kateri TekakwithaSaint Kateri is the first Native America recognized as a saint in the Catholic Church. At age 19, Kateri Tekakwitha converted to Catholicism, taking a vow of chastity and pledging to marry only Jesus Christ. She regularly practiced mortification and denial and remained steadfast in her devotion to Christ.
She was 24 years old when she died. Saint Kateri is the patron saint of the environment and ecology, people in exile, and Native Americans. . Her feast day is July 14. Find more information on St. Kateri HERE |
